Is anyone using spotify app on SBT and do you experience problems, what is your experience?

Regards

Sounds very good to me, in those terms I have no complaints but the usability is awful. I don’t get how it can be so user friendly on my phone or laptop then that bad on my SBT, it is suppose to be pretty good on Sonos. You lose all the discover features, if you misspell the name of a band it doesn’t suggest the correct spelling, staring music just seems to lump it all together and searching with the remote for bands is a complete pain. Also they have multiple versions of the same album (I guess different world wide releases) and most of them don’t work so you have to go though the menu trying them all to be told ‘this doesn’t work in your region’ which then makes everything slow and lag.

Once I’m listening it is fine but in terms of the user experience there is so much room for improvement.

MP was having some issues in this thread & was advised to try the third party app. No idea what happened.

This is mostly true..Although the way I use it, it is not so relevant.

Basically do all your setting up on PC/Mac/Mobile and simply use the playlists you have on the Squeezebox.

Yes I have been thinking of using it more like this recently. Unfortunately my laptop is out of use at the moment (which was my server hence the use of Spotify). Believe it or not I’ve just been messing with playlists of any sort on any device for the first time this week as my friends have done a joint Spotify one and it does seem my best bet but will have to do via my phone for now. While Spotify is great for having a huge recourse at hand I do miss scrolling through my library, I actually sit there with Spotify trying to remember the bands I like and forget many of them.

I stopped using the official Spotify app a long time ago and went to the 3rd party version...no issues since then. I also use Ipeng as the controller.

Which one do you use? I may have to try it. Another issue is I can’t use ipeng or the official app to control as it says it cant find a device when going through mysqueezebox and not the server, any ideas?

Never had any problems with Spotify on SBT, although I ditched it (premium) a few months ago due to it being a waste of money in my world.

this is what I do as got fed up with the multiple guess re which was the 'U.K.' version of the album. However, recently had a few issues with new albums where set it up on Mac or iPad Spotify and it plays fine but go to Squeezebox and it says not available in region, after a few days it settles down and let's me play it

Same experience here...

Some tracks in my playlists report the 'not available in your region', despite playing absolutely fine on my iDevices and PC.

Same problem with both the official and Triode 3rd party app.

You just can't beat the sublime sound of the touch tho, so the niggles are worth it.

🙂

I use the Triode 3rd party app. It can be kind of hard to find unless you enable "see third party apps" in Squeezecenter ( I think that's what they are calling it these days!). Once you enable the dialog box, you'll see it--just enable and then you can select on the Touch.

The other issue baffles me. There's got to be a simple fix because my Touch (and a Duet in another room) just showed up with no issues on both iPeng and the Logitech app--sorry I can't be more help.

I've had this happen as well or in some cases the playlist that I set up via Spotify directly won't appear. If I back out of the dialog box a couple of levels and click back through, it seems to correct itself. I know that sounds like a pain, but it only takes a few seconds.

BTW, my holy grail would be if the Synology NAS would support Spotify. Right now I have to keep the SBT seperate from the NAS because if I use the Logitech Server on the NAS, I lose the ability to use the Spotify apps.
