Took delivery of the spyder2 a couple of days ago and tried to use it for the first time last night. I ordered the spyder2 suite. I managed to calibrate my laptop fine so using the software isn't a problem, however, there are NO instructions whatsover about the use of the software other than how to install it. Do I need to connect my laptop to the TV to run the test patterns or should there be a disk with the software with patterns (there isn't in my box). There is nothing on the colorvision website to step you through it so am extremely disappointed with my purchase so far. I know some of the guys here have used this so maybe you could offer me an insight?

I reckon you've bought the wrong version. The one we use is Spyder TV, which comes complete with software, colorimeter and test DVDs to give the patterns on the screen.

Spyder2 Suite is more designed for the calibration of computer monitors and printers for digital photography and image manipulation. I guess you might be able to use this with your TV if it has a PC input, but I'm afraid I don't have any knowledge of using this package.

Thanks Andrew, you are right, I have indeed bought the wrong version.

Fortunately, after speaking to some ISF professionals and contributors on AVForums, it would appear that there are only two things missing - instructions and the test pattern dvd.

I have arranged for both of these to be sent to me, however, both sets of advisors have convinced me to download the HCFR software and test image dvd which also works with the spyder as the general concensus is that is is superior and able to deliver far better calibration. (and its FREE!)

Why doesn`t somebody like Blockbusters rent these things out? say £10 per night, maybe a hefty refundable deposit?
Surely unless the picture drifts dramatically -mine doesn`t -I`m not going to use this very often!
You try telling my wife why I spent £100+ on something I only used for 5 minutes.
