If the speakers are sitting on a carpet, the spikes will go straight through and contact the floor, thus keeping the speakers more stable, and will also enable you to level the speakers.

Both of these can only help the sound.

Where do you get some spikes for the 914s? Spares for the speakers are available here.

Four of each for each speaker.

And if you read the whole of it - it's a chore, given some of the muddled thinking you'll encounter along the way - you'll find it grudgingly supports the reason I gave the OP for using the speakers on spikes.

I wasn't saying don't buy spikes, but just trying to provide information about why they may or may not help and how they might work if they do. No one had warned him/her that he/she might buy spikes and find that they make not a bit of difference OR they might improve his/her listening enjoyment.ÿ

You might want to take a look at this site, I have under my floorspeakers (KEF IQ7) 8 of these spikes, you just screw them into the holes under your speakers, there not cheap, but they are functional, don`t look to bad either.

radovantz:Allow me with another option, the speaker stands.. you can use the bottom base as your floorstanders' foot. Just remove the stand and use the bottom base..
