Speaker crackle and pop

Hi

I have an onkyo TXSR 606 with KEF Cresta speakers I've had the system for quite a few years now

its started to make a crackle or pop from the front right hand speaker, and center speaker. It's intermittent but frequent if you get what I mean.

its at its worst when first turned on, I can only liken it to the noise from a bonfire.

i have swapped speakers around, and the crackle and pop stil only comes from front right and centre speakers

does this mean my onkyo is on the way out or is there a cheap fix

all help and advise will be much apreciated. (Im a novice so if a tetchy answer, can it be in laymans terms please)

Have you tried switch-cleaner on the volume pot (I'm making perhaps a wrong assumption that the volume control is analogue)

not tried anything as yet apart from remaking and swapping connections

will give it a go
