Hi, I was given an Arcam Alpha 1 cd player and an Alpha 5 amplifier. I also have a Yamaha HD 1500 and a project debut as sources. The speakers were floorstanders which I think are to large for room and dont have enough space for them anyway.

I am looking to get a set of bookshelf speaker to go on wall than would go well with the system around £200 - £250. Room about 3m by 2.5m.

I was also wondering how the Arcam components compare with modern equipment as they are about 13 years old but work fine.

Thanks,

John

Those older Arcams are okay. Yes, they are bettered by the Alpha 7R upwards and the DIVA range. Speaker range is pretty much an elongated list: Go with the Alphas you'll need something in the region of Wharfedale 9.1, Monitor Audio RS1, KEF.

If you upgrade to the DIVA range include the above + B&W, Focal and Dali....

You need to hear before buying.

Wish you good luck, pp.
