I've just got a Topping TP30 DAC and amp for my laptop and was after some advice on speakers to go with it. The full manual for the TP30 is here but the relevent section is

Loudspeaker output power:
-15W @ 4Ω, 10% THD+N
-10W @ 8Ω, 10% THD+N
Distortion:
-Loudspeaker output: 0.03% THD+N @ 9W (using 4Ω speakers)

I was thinking of a pair of Q Acoustics 2010s- but they are rated at 6Ω - would that cause any problems?

The alternative might be some JBL Control 1 PROs, which are 4Ω, but I can't find uch in the way of reviews on them.

Any advice much appreciated - my budget is around £100-£120.

For around £100-£120 you can get some better speakers.

I believe that the TP30 is a TA2024 based Triapth amp?

I would recommend some Rega R1s or Ruark Sabres which can both easily be had under budget, and very easy to drive. They would also be streats ahead of the two you mentioned.

How big is your room? If you have a larger room, something like the Rega Jura is a good choice, and the T-Amps have very well controlled, tight bass, if lacking a bit in depth.

hoopsontoast,

many thanks for the response - the Topping TP30 is a TA2024 based Triapth amp.

The room is about 14' square.

I've had a quick look online, but the Rega R(S?)1s and the Ruark Sabres both seem to be coming in at much more than £100-£120. I will keep looking though and many thanks for the suggestions - much appreciated.
