3 of my all time fav movies but such a horrid transfer

I
would give the movies themselves 10 stars if i could as movies they are
perfect, i was really excited to see these on blu ray remastered and in
HD. However i was sick when i found the transfers were either the same
as the recent DVD release or in the case of FAFDM to be worse, so
specklely and very washed out some scenes looked worse than overs on the
blu ray putting the remastered dvds and they were so much better less
grain speckles and very few scratches. Please stick to the DVD's if you
have them and if you appreciate then in best format BLU Ray will let you
down on this release

If you do buy them... maybe let me know what you think ?

Admittedly i did buy the US Blu-ray edition trilogy and i own the previous DVD box set so i have compared both and overall the Blu-ray edition is superb for the age of the film and in some instances you actually feel like you are watching a brand new film i.e made this century , well that's what i thought anyway. Maybe the UK edition is no good but the US one i own is fantastic well worth getting.

Whatever the level of remastering, they're going to look better than the DVD's, and for a tenner for three great films on a format that has far less compression, that's a bargain. Scenes within films can vary just as much as the films themselves - some scenes may be soft focus, washed out, different colour palette, or not even HD. Remastering can't really make up for this.

The comment about the DVD's having less grain - it might be that the 'noise' on the DVD's might have been reduced digitally - this clears up grain, but at the detriment of picture detail - in grain, there is detail. Also, there's usually confusion between noise and film grain. Noise appears every now and again when a scene is badly shot or the film has deteriorated - film grain is constant.
