sound bar test

will you be doing a "super test" at any time on all the sound bars that are currently available? Yamaha have had new models out for a while now but what hi fi seems to never review them!

I too would be interested in this, Amazon have a few for sale on their site but it would be nice to have an official verdict. I have heard the DSP 1100 at Sevenoakes so have a reference to relate to.

I know these can never compete with true 5.1 systems but what did you think of the sound? how good was it at the surround effects?

Hi Funkbrother,

It had power and presence during the opening sequence to Alien and the bass output was good without a subwoofer. Luckily Sevenoakes had it calibrated as it was a big Demo room and it did feel like surround sound. A clever bit of technology the Yamaha as I only have the Panasonic TV with its BBE surround that is ok but not in the same league as Yahama. The proprietor informed me that the smaller version the DSP 900 would need the sub woofer. Hope this helps.
