Sony STR-DN1040 or Sony STR-DN850

Hi there,

I would be happy if you give me some advice here. Which of the above mentioned av receivers will be a better choice for a system with dali zenzor 3 or dali Ikon 2 Mk2. I will be using the system only with 2 speakers and i will be using it both for music and movies. I will be happy if you tell me which av receiver has better sound quality.

1040, no question. I had the 840 for some time, and unless they changed it significantly, it doesn't have the effortless and creamier delivery of sound - particularly in the low end - that the 1040 had over it. It should pair nicely with the Zensor's. I used Zensor 7's with the 840 for about 6 months before I decided to sell them on. Sonically, they matched fine, though perhaps a little on the aggressive side for a lot of music though.
