There's an even bigger catch and that's not being able to buy one of their consoles despite trying from the November release date.
Scalpers with bots are buying them up and selling for a greatly inflated price on several online market places such as Ebay.
I emailed Sony HQ in the UK and was basically told, not our problem. They get their money. The shops selling them get their money and then the scalpers get their money.

Meanwhile, 4 months later it's still nigh on impossible to buy a PS5 in the UK.
