Only £9 differentiates between the S470 & S570.....& the S770 is not much different than the S570. Why has Sony released 3 models? The least they could do is have superior components in the S770, but this doesn't appear to be the case.
I was under the impression that the S770 was the replacement for the S760, albeit it being a 3D version?
Going by the previous generation S360, S560 and S760, I would have thought this was the case.
There was a bigger price margin then, if I recall correctly. Certainly for the S760!

According to the interview with Sony's Eric Kingdon, the main differences are the inclusion of a backlit remote commander in the S770 and different casing and trim. He did not mention superior components. Doesn't look like a strong reason to go for the S770, especially if you're using a universal remote & don't mind the looks of the S570!

I've got the S570 and first thing out of the box was the remote and I was very disappointed! I went from a Pioneer BDP-LX52 which had a very good quality remote but the remote with the S570 is very cheap and disappointing!

Hi Doug,
Can i ask you what is the performance on blu ray like compared to the pioneer 52?
The picture and sound quality is very good. I can't help but thinking that it isn't as good as the Pioneer, however I think my opinion is somewhat tainted by the fact that I know the Pioneer is a player with much more expensive build quality. When you know that something is more expensive, you can't help but think you are seeing and hearing better quality coming from it. I haven't done a side by side comparison, but what I will say is that the sound and picture that comes from the Sony is a pleasant surprise after the disappointment that I felt on taking it out of the box.
