Hi,

was wondering if some one who owns this recorder could help me out .

i can't get it to record from standby .

i was under the impression that you could set the timer to record and then put the recorder on standby , when its time for the program to start the recorder turns on , records the program and then turns off ???

mine will only record a program if its on and not in standby mode.

could be a setting i need to change but not sure .

any help thanks

Simon

hi, my mate has got an earlier one and I think when you set a timer on the program timer the player itself should tell you to press standby button then it will turn off and come on a couple of minutes before sheduled time and then turn off when done. This is also true of matsui dvd recorder i have of the moment too. Other than that I am not sure, maybe double check you have set the clock right on the player and the timer date and time etc.

Haven't used the unit myself, but have been studying the manual for the past 20mins and I think you're right - it will only record when it's on, not from standby.

Unless any users know otherwise...

Wow, I expected better from recent sony recorder. That isnt to great is it? My cheap matsui recorder can. hmmmm...

ok this recorder has a mind of its own ..lol

just set it on a test to record the news on channel 5 . set the time ok and the date is fine ,first thing i checked .

it came on from standby ,just waiting to see if it gos off . done the same thing about 11:00 today but instead of using the time to record i used the epg . that did not come on ???? .strange ?

there is a setting in the recorder to use epg or the exact time to start recording . looks like it just comes on with the time .

simon

just an update . that worked ??? it turned off ok . will try the epg again . but if that don't work then i will contact sony to find out what the problem is ..

Andrew , come to think of it you could be right . just thought as you set it to record a hole set of CSI or any series you want , it must be able to come on and turn off when you set it to record ? because it uses the EPG to start the recording ?

Hi, I have the SONY RDR-HXD860, and it does record something I have set via the timer or EPG, from standby.

well thanks for the comments . for some reason unknown to my self ,it's working fine now ?????

must have been something i was doing wrong .

thanks

simon
