Hi, we have just bought Sony PS-LX310BT turntable and tried playing it through a BOSE soundlink revolve Bluetooth speaker. However the sound was very low even on the line setting and with high gain setting. Could anyone suggest a possible reason for this. We then played the turntable through a PURE radio on the Bluetooth setting and the sound was much louder.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Rob, and welcome to the forum.

I have a hunch that the line level switch only applies if you connect by cable. Using Bluetooth it might not change the volume. Does the switch make any audible change in level? What does the manual say on this? Did you state what you were intending to use it for when you bought it?

Thanks very much for your replies. The manual says that when you're connecting to a Bluetooth device you must select "line" for the output select. It also says you should switch the "gain select" switch to low, medium or high, depending on how loudly the recording was made. We switched it to high because on "medium" the sound was extremely low. Even on "high" the sound is too quiet using the Bose Revolve speaker (which has a brilliant sound when using Spotify). So we linked it up to a large PURE radio with Bluetooth and two speakers and the sound was really loud when we turned it up. However we don't think the PURE radio will get the optimum quality from the Sony turntable. I was under the impression that the Bose speaker would work fine, especially as you can place it in various rooms in the house while the turntable doesn't have to be moved.
