been lookin into buying a new tv 40-42" and have just bought the ultimate guide magazine and from this i can see that the best set is the new sony w4000, this looks to be the best 40-42" tv for the money. i have also heard a lot about the new pana pz85 but was wondering why there is no review of this in the magazine. could any one tell me which one is better for both sd and hd. both tvs are around the same price and roughly the same size but due to there been no comparison or review of the pana i cant decide which one to go for?

any help please.

jon

would you know which set is better or which one would buy?

If the one in question was me, I'd go for the Sony, simply because IMO it has a better picture.

But I'd advise you to try to get a look at both before you buy.

cheers thta very helpful, if it has a better picture then its prob the one for me, i will try and get a viewing before purchase.

i have found it forr £1055 with a five year warranty for cheapelectircals.co.uk

just wondered if youd heard off them and if there a decent company as price plus warranty sounds good.

hi i went to look at both of these today and the pz had a much better picture.the w4000 had loads of noise in the picture.i guess because this is a lcd.i im going for the pz much clearer picture

thanks for your view, will have to go take a look for myself

Yes have heard of the company, but have not have had any dealings with it. There's a thread here with comments from some people who have.

Sounds like poor set-up - not something we encountered on test.

No reason for more picture noise.

cheers for that, also found it for simular price on sound and vision website, gona see if john lewis will do a price match.

what would be better for watching football

[/quote]HDTVtest has reviewed both these. The reviews do get a bit technical, but I gather the plasma is still better for movement (football). Not a lot in for colours, and the plasma still has better blacks.

Concluded that the W4000 was the best LCD so far.
