Having used the THX tests on the finding nemo dvd using the THX glasses(thank you what hi-fi) trying to obtain the solid blue lines on the colour tint/hue test the centre of the blue persists to be a lighter shade than the outsides, the colour is constant along the line, is this the best I achieve with the adjustments available to me? advice please. thank you.

Unfortunately yes that is the best you can acheive with your TV. I have the Sony KDL40W5500 and have used the THX optimiser with the glasses (another WHF thankyou!) and get exactly the same results, i think it's just down to the sets not having a tint/hue option in the menu. There is a setting to adjust the hue but it's only available to use when viewing NTSC material (so never then!) so the best you can do is adjust the colour, colour temp setting and white balance. Not sure if your model is the same but the different options under the scene button can be useful for storing different settings for all your sources and all affect the picture as standard.
