Sony kdl w5500 HDMI input

Have connected a Blu-ray player with HDMI cable but am unable to get a picture, does anyone know if there are some settings that need adjusting?

Ive not tried the ones on the side so make sure its plugged in at the back (As I know they work)

Then its probably down to a setting on the bluray player
