sony bdps-350 problem/using lens cleaner

hi all,has anyone ever used a lens cleaner on a blu-ray player?if so which one would you recommend?the reason i ask is just recently when playing films the sound now and again becomes quiet and then returns to normal and back again and so on.I am hoping that the lens just needs a clean would this be right.Any help would be greatly recieved.
