Am upgrading my very old DVD player and pondering these two. I'll mainly use the one I eventually choose for BluRay and a bit of online media (although I do have Apple TV too for that).

There doesn't seem to be much on the 'net comparing the two so I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience of either of them. From the looks of what I have found to read, the Sony is not such a great upgrade from the previous 570 model. Equally there are not many reviews out yet on the BDT-310 but I guess it is relatively new ...

Does anyone have either of these? What do you think of them? Which would you choose?

Cheers

I was pondering the same thing a few weeks ago and would've gone with the panasonic. As it was decided to stick with the ps3, but will be tempted again when prices drop a little.

I don't think you can ... from what I've been able to find out anyway.

I don't have any personal experience of the Sony but have recently bought the Panasonic 310 and it's a great little player. I was using my PS3 and it's a definite improvement over this. Motion is a lot better, picture is sharper with better colours. Viera connect is nothing to write home about - it currently doesn't have BBCi player but does have you tube and acetrax (similar to lovefilm). To be honest, Panasonic have really missed a trick with the iphone app which is great but has no keyboard ability making it bothersome to search for videos. From what I've seen of the Samsung smart TV, it's much better, fuller and more accessible. The other thing to note is that the upscaling on DVDs is so-so. I'm using mine on a 720p/1080i projector and did notice a huge improvement on upscaling qualities when I took it off automatic (selecting 1080i) and set it to 720p. The picture immediately lost it's soft, watery look. As a blu ray, it's top notch! Hope that helps.
