I have not compared the sound or picture on the Sony BDP-370 to the Pioneer BDP-320.

I have compared the Sony BDP-363, as well as the Sony Fat Ps3 to the Pioneer BDP-320 & the Pioneer beats them hands down on both picture & sound quality.

The Sony players i have give good audio but are not as musical as the Pioneer, they tend to err on the darker side on picture giving good blacks, but still not quite as crisp in picture quality.

I would recommend you go & see both players in action before making your choice, using the same TV so you at least have a good comparison.

Regards .. Paul.

Thanks F1.

The reason I ask is the 370 beat the 760 (dunno how, when the 760 is suppossed to have 'advanced tech' from the 5000es!) and in the blu-ray group test, the 760 beat the 320.

confused.

Hi,

I demo'd the 760 vs the 320 in Edinburgh not too long ago - I ended up with the 320, never looked back. Thought the Pioneer beat the Sony hands down.

Remember everyone has their own opinion and point of view - proper testing done with familiar material by you will always prove you to be correct.

The magazine and it's contributors are excellent advisors but you will always have the last word.)

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

thank you 'undertaker'...kidding.

I'm not interested in wi-fi n stuff..just want great pic n sound quality and now the 320 is going for under £200, so i think it's a good deal.

I think i will go for the 320. thank you very much.

Personally i think some of it is down to user preferences & the kit you are partnering it with.

I used a HD TV TEST website for help in setting my tv up, they put up the settings for my particular TV to set it properly. After i used the THX setup to check it & i didnt need to touch a thing.

I would still advise yo u do a comparison though between the 2 players to make your own mind up, Amazon were doing a good deal on the Sony BDP-370 the other day with Avatar & HDMI lead thrown in for just £135 ish check out the forums for a link. Pioneer BDP-320 is as cheap as £195 or less.

All the best ... Paul

I bought the Sony BDP-S370 recently. Today I received the Pioneer BDP-320.

OK, the Pioneer is a far superior machine. The picture and sound quality is MUCH BETTER!

Thank you, Undertaker!!!

Hi,

Glad to see someone listens to me!!

I find it better with music too - so much so that I've not even hooked up the PS3 to my amp again. I've started to load CD's - shock horror! Just need birthday fairy to bring me a new amp...

Have you returned the Sony?

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Thanks again Undertaker. I've sold the Sony on to a friend. Whilst the Sony looked like a kiddy's plaything, the Pioneer is classy. Lovely.

Loading times are SLOW though, for a profile 2 machine. Odd.

Yes, I did. Version 3.65 now. When I played Avatar earlier, there were some freezing and motion issues - fine now.

Thank you Paul.

bigboss:I think RGBDirect has sold out its stock of Pioneer 320. The availability shows as "discontinued".

DR BB, with your superb Pioneer Plasma TV, you really should get a Pioneer blu-ray player. The results will be outstanding.

No problem SamsonD.

It is always best to download & install the latest firmware updates on blu ray players whatever brand they are.

On many players this is in the setup menu on the player, set it to automatic updates ( for the easiest result ), assuming the player / recorder has a built in hard drive or storage capability.

If the blu ray player does not have this function, then download the relevant file to your computer & write a cd disc following the manufacturers instructions.

Generally they are compatability updates for the newer discs or general program updates.

Enjoy...

Hi,

Good things come to those who wait - as my drinking buddy used to say...

When it's loading, get the lights dimmed, the munchies sorted, the drinks set, the cushioned flumphed and the stool over.

Robert's your mother's brother.
