Hi all

I am not able to run any of the internet stuff through my player. Instead, all I it does is restarting once again.

I have tried the same wired conection as the one I used with my new Samsung TV, which it works smoothly and gets everything updated pretty fast.

My Sony BDP-S370 can be restarting for hours and doesn't seem to get any update or else as the firmware version hasn't change.

PLEASE, can anyone advise me a bit???

Thanks

Strange, hard wired mine in to the router and had no issues at all..................not sure if you need to also make sure you have the 1GB memory stick as well.

I did and all is well.

If you can't get it right get hold of sony.eu/support..........normally very good

Good luck

If you are needing to do a firmware update to cure a problem try going to the Sony website Clicky the latest update is UPDATA_M03R623.ZIP ( approximately 37.6 Mb ) released on the 07/07/10 so is quite recent.

Regards..

Just had a conversation re this with Sony's Technical Marketing Manager, Eric Kingdon, who was just in the office: I'll mail him a link to this thread in case anyone at Sony has any ideas what's causing the OP's problem

I doubt this is the case, but is the router MAC locked to the tv? (which means that connecting ANY other device simply wouldnt work)

Eh? Do you mean has the router been set up to only accept connections from specified MAC addresses? Could be but that's quite an advanced setting and the OP doesn't sound like he's the sort of person who'd do that sort of thing (no offence), unless it was bought second-hand of course.

It's been a while since I set up the network on my S760 but don't you have to go into the network settings and tell it whether you want to use wireless or wired networking and whether to specify an IP address or use DHCP etc? I don't think it just works out of the box, might be wrong, like I said it's been a little while. The OP hasn't specifically stated that he's done this, he may have done but I'm not going to assume that.

Hi dapca,

My name is John Cobb from Sony UK.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Have you ckecked the "Internet settings" of the player?

"Home" "Network Settings" "Internet settings" "View Network Satus"

Try running the "Network Connection Diagnostics and see what that returns, it may give a clue.

Regards

John

Hi John, Have you managed to look at any of the other threads on here regarding the S370's inability to play back a number of file formats despite it saying on Sony's website that it should be able to. Do you have any plans to correct this and if not, is it possible to return the player as a faulty product to a Sony Centre (or other point of purchase), as it clearly is not doing "what it says on the tin".

Cheers,Ian.

Thats why im doubtful. But at least it clears that problem.

My S370 worked just by plugging the etherent in (IIRC) . I dont recall having to set anything

Regardless. Looks like the OPs probably not returning anyways

Hi all

I tried the 1 GB stick memory you said but again it didn't work so I took my chances with Sony helpline and told me that with the latest firmware update, many of the connectivity issues (like mine) would be definetely solved...and it WORKED!

Unnecesary to say that I updated the player via CD...but now I am glad because I can finally connect and play internet contents!!!

I can now recommend the player as it has crisp and solid images and fantastic sound.

Thanks for your support!!
