I am going to buy a Sonos S5 for the bedroom/kitchen and want another 'zone' in the living room.

I don't currently have a SS system so I thought I could buy a SS system for the living room with a ZonePlayer 90.

Is there anything I need to consider when buying a surround sound system or should they all be compatible with the Sonos?

With this setup, would I be able to connect my Sky box to the ZonePLayer to stream the audio from Sky to the S5?

Thanks

Joe

The speakers have to be amplified, either with an external amplifier or a built-in amplifier (active speakers) to enable Sonos ZP90 to work with it.

No, that's not possible.

Ok thanks..... so if the ZP90 was connected to my surround sound system, this would work?

Hi just to add to what big boss said,

With the ZP90 you would need a seperate amp and speakers and you would be unable to have 5.1 output.

But you would be able to connect to an av reviever via optical or coax sub wooferconnection and rca left and right.

you would also be able to put an rca feed into the zp90 to feed the av reciever and stream it to your other sonos products like the S5

to listen to the match say if you nipped out of the room.

I found it great when the world cup was on having the sound pumped about the house and garden.

hope this helps with your decision
