I was lying on my sunbed on the beach one day last week thinking about what I should listen to off my MP3 player when I thought to myself I’ll see how many songs I can play that are about holidays or have lyrics or lines relating to holidays and I played the following
Tina Turner “Foreign Affair”
10cc “Dreadlock Holiday”
Fairport Convention “Matty Groves”
The Stranglers “Peaches”and
Dire Straits “Industrial Disease” (2 weeks in Espana)
Grand total of 5 tracks out of 4000, not very good really.
I decided to ignore Mark Knoppler “Postcards from Paraguay”
Eagles “Hotel California”, Marillion “Hotel Hobbies”,
Don Henley “Boys of Summer” and Thin Lizzy “Boys are back in town” as I did not think they met the holiday theme.
I know Marillion did the album “Holidays in Eden” (No comment), Cliff did Summer Holiday (Still no comment) and Madonna did “Holiday” but has anyone got any ideas about any other holiday songs.
PS I’m sure I played 6 tracks but I can’t remember the last one.

I`ll go straight in with THE classic holiday song -

`Everyday Is Like Sunday` by Morrissey.

"Hide on the promenade, etch a postcard

How I dearly wish I was not here"

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Can't believe I'm the first one to mention it. Seems so obvious.

I remember the TV programme but the lyrics from the song are not connected to holidays which was why I rejected "Postcards from Paraguay".
