Hi Folks, could you offer some advice please ...probably straight forward stuff too, sorry.

Now my LG 930 is up and running and looking good...I've just received my Yamaha 2500 and will be setting up soon.

the set up will be Sky Box...Yamaha and LG....could someone please advise the best way to connect...I'm pretty poor when it comes to this and im sure it will be real easy.

Also..are there any Harry Potter fans here? My wife has been watching these off Sky...are there a lot of scenes that are generally quite dark etc? Or have I got a setting wrong somewhere? The picture itself seems quite sharp but some scenes appear quite dark towards the edges?

thanks in advance

Yep, Harry Potter movies are very dark. What settings are you using?

Try these settings, but note that they are for the American version of your set http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/lg-55ec9300-picture-settings-626876/. You really should get your set calibrated though, which costs £200 to £250.

The problem with dark edges on some material is, I believe, called vignetting, and even the new LG 65EF950V flat OLED has it to some degree, and I don't think that it goes away even after calibration. It tends to be worse on some sets than others. I don't know if you have a particularly bad one or not.

Most films these days have a lot of dark scenes as they make it harder for people to copy at the cinema and pirate. The end of SPECTRE is exactly the same. Hollywood is fighting back, but we have to watch a lot of dark scenes in return.

Sorry guys, anyone able to help here?

Yep, Harry Potter is really really dark. Where did you get your settings from? How about trying normal mode to see if the issues are still there?

Hi Gel, the settings were from somewhere on the net plus a few adjustments I made. To be honest I'm pretty happy with the picture in general and it was more on the HP films that these dark areas were appearing.

thanks for that link Son ...I agree , getting the set calibrated would be the ideal situation..anyone know of someone in Scotland?

one thing I have realised, I think, is that all HD channels are not the same....certainly appears that some HD channels seem to be of a higher quality...is this correct?

on the plus side..amazingly I got another price match accepted by JL and am now price matched down to 1449....less 300 trade in.....and , of course the 200 I got for selling my TV means I got the 930 for a ridiculous £949!!

I'm sure there is an easy answer to this.

Why is it that, even when broadcast in HD, some programs seem to have a kind of grain or fuzziness to the picture.

My immediate examples would be The Following and The Walking Dead.
