Finally saved enough for the new LG OLED Ultra HD 55" Flatscreen, is this the best there is at the moment? Is it worth waiting for Panasonic's equivalent. Not interested in curved panel though.

Yep, that's probably the best. *smile*f1only said:So what about Samsungs SUHD 110 inch 8k tv shown at CES?, can play HDR content if you can find some gel

gel said:The LG flat Oled is the best taking all factors into account, but next year HDR range will be twice as good so worth the wait a bit longer. If you can't wait go for it. People on AVForums are returning it to Currys if they are not 100 per cent happy with it.
A proper HDR content (not the ones streamed on Amazon) will be the biggest advantage of 4K. Looking at the number of years plasma or LCD have taken to improve, OLED technology in my opinion is doing extremely well. It's already competing on price, which is remarkable.nugget2014 said:gel said:The LG flat Oled is the best taking all factors into account, but next year HDR range will be twice as good so worth the wait a bit longer. hdr range TWICE as good? Nope. You of all people should know this isn't the case gel. Do tv technologies advance this fast? Especially not for LG..for even £2500 id expect 1000 nits of brightness never mind their retail of £5000! This is why I am waiting for my next tv in 5 or so years before jumping to OLED. OLED advances even slower IMO
Huh? How much better is HDR on the 2016 ones then compared to the flat 2015 then?nugget2014 said:gel said:The LG flat Oled is the best taking all factors into account, but next year HDR range will be twice as good so worth the wait a bit longer. Samsung QM105D 5K would get my vote. Only £70,000 so a bit more saving to do yet.
i have seen info on AVForums and it said that HDR will be twice as good for brightness and black levels.nugget2014 said:gel said:Huh?
