sky hd & surround sound

Hi, i've got a samsung lcd with sky hd and a samsung 5.1 DD surround sound system...when using the optical cable....when running it from the surround sound box do i plug it into the sky hd box or the tv as they both have output optical ports on??

Its weird cos they both work but does plugging from the tv which has a hdmi going into it give true DD?

Ive found that when i run it from the sky hd box to the surround sound...whenever i change from hd to normal tv the speakers make a funny noise for like one second, like a crackly noise...im confused as it doesnt do this when optical cable is cmoing outa the tv...any help is appreicated. thanks, liam

If you want 5.1 DD from Sky HD you'll need to connect an optical cable from the HD box's optical out into the sound system's optical in.
