Today Sky have installed HD+, the Sky box is connected to my Pioneer LX70 Amplifier/Reciever via HDMI, the LX70 is then connected to my Pioneer 5090 TV via HDMI out.

Other posts have indicated that the only way to get Dolby Digital 5.1 from the Sky box is to use an Optical cable from the Sky box to the Amplifier, this sounds logical however as my picture from Sky is passed through my Amplifier, if I change the input to pick up the Optical sound I think I will lose my HDMI picture!

Does anyone know how to programme the Pioneer LX70 to accept the HDMI picture from the Sky box at the same time as accepting digital sound from the Optical in?

Thanks

I would still be tempted to do HDMI to the TV and optical to the Amp for when you want 5.1 sound.

IE. for normal TV you dont need the amp on and still yet sound from the TV.

Professorhat,

Many thanks for your suggestion, will play around with the settings as suggested on page 66.

Quite agree with you re keeping the HDMI connection for the Picture only, will just have to play around with the sound input settings as suggested by the Proff.

Have tried to alter the HDMI input on the Amp to accept the Optical feed from the Sky box, however the only amendment the Amp will allow is a Rename, nothing else. If I select the Optical input I have connected the Amp to I get the sound, but the picture goes.

Other than bypass the Amp and connect the HDMI from the Sky box straight into the TV and use the Amp purely for sound from the Optical any other suggestions?

It's explained in points 4 and 5 on p66: you just have to make sure you have selected both the correct digital input and the correct HDMI video in on whichever input you have the Sky+HD connected to.
