Here is what i want to do , but not sure if it is going to work...

At the moment i am using my kef's xq30 for stereo only mainly because my av amp hasn't got pre-outs. I am using bear wire to connect them to my stereo amp and i was thinking that i could run another pair of speaker cable from them using banana port to my av amp.

The idea is to use my main stereo speakers for both amplifiers but obviously not at the same time.

Will that works or am i going to damage my speakers?

Hope it is not to confusing...

Thanks

I remember suggesting the afformentioned setup to another forum member and then came the onslaught of "no, don't do that, you'll nacker your amp!" The problem it seems is that the speaker terminals on an amp are designed to output a current, not to receive one. With a loop going from amp to speakers to A/V amp you will be feeding the outputs on the unused amp with the output current from the amp in use. This is not a good idea if you value your kit. You could do the same setup but only have one set of speaker cables connected at the speaker terminals at any one time. Would be benaficial to have banana plugs on both pairs of speaker cables for ease of termination.
Hope this helps :)

Someone on the other forum has mentioned about a speakers switch that it can be used in reverse for this purpose.

Has anyone tried that before?
