Simple question about Freeview HD tuner ...

... that I can't find explicitly answered anywhere. Is the Freeview HD tuner backward-compatible with existing non-HD Freeview transmissions? That is, the one tuner will decode both HD and non-HD streams?

yes, so you use them instead of SD tuners, not 'in addition to'.
