Id like to see another shootout, 4K 55" to 65" LCD vs OLED and projector, now that would be interesting...
Yep, it would be good.

Does sound like the perfect excuse to go up to 65 inches to me gel...pricey though.
Certainly is I think you are looking at £6000 for an LG 4K HDR external HDMI outputs 65-inch at present! You might as well go all the way and buy the Panasonic for those extra deep black levels then! *smile*

I think 65inch is the way to go right now, well if you got the space. I cnt see myself going back to 55inch set. But would still wait a while for things to settle dwn.
It depends on the size of the the table top stand for me. That can't be too big otherwise I can't accommodate it. Yep, waiting seems to be the name of the game. Cheers.

If LG are charging 6 large for their 65inch then the 8 large Panasonic are charging comes more into perspective.

For me 6 large is too much for a 65inch tv, thats seriously expensive

Gel what are you waiting for

I am waiting for about £3000 and a really good one, or else it's not worth it.

Gel why dont youu rent your tv's you seem to go through them like a bag of starbursts (opel fruits) LOL

Im not being rude but why do people never ask how far you sit from the screen? So here it goes How far do you sit from the screen....? Saying you will not see a difference at 55inch's without asking that question is a little silly and short sighted (sorry i had to) in my opinion. People were saying "you wont see a difference with 1080p" when going from CRT screens now there saying the same thing again going to 4k. But i would say its a bit of a cusp moment for tv's and the industry in general and i would hold just for the mo based on that. On the other hand if its broken and you need one why buy twice! BUT!!!! only buy the size you can fit! dosnt matter what others think.

For example though if you sit 2-3 meter away (average room width in the UK) and you have a 55inch 1080p tv now then you will most Definitely see it! Anything over that then no maybe not.

I would say 55inch are for nearfield viewing thats how i look at it. And thats what most UK homes are nearfield viewing

I would say go to a shop and stand/sit the distant you would sit at home and see for yourself.

*biggrin*. I do seem to go through a lot of TVs! I am going to be around 3 meters away from the TV depending on where I am. At the moment my 55-inch OLED is looking pretty big still. I am confused with what I will see and what I won't. The only conclusion I have come too is bigger is definitely going to be better. I would like to demo 4K Blu-Rays because then I think I will really be able to tell what's what.

Gel, hold fire mate. Sit tight, enjoy your trouble free TV and wait for 4K to drop in price over the next few years. I've said it before but you have a very, very good TV. If I had it I wouldn't be looking to replace it yet.

Rocket makes two very good points there gel.

Prices will tumble on 4K OLED now that Panasonic has entered the fray and as other manufacturers jump on board prices will become far more realistic in the next few years.

The most important thing though is how good your current TV is and the fact that it's problem free, there is no guarantee that if you made the leap to 4K OLED that you wouldn't experience issues even at that price point. Do you really need to take that risk just yet? I presume you purchased from JL and have a 5 year warranty so why the hurry, sit back, enjoy and wait for the right deal to appear.

Saying all that...the prospect of 65 inches of OLED at 4K is one he'll of a draw eh!

Yep, I got my John Lewis 5 year warranty of which I think 3 years is left and has been problem free. I doubt I would want to sell it as its been that good. So I would have to pay full wack for another one. I have seen the current LG 65-inch TV in Costco on a 4k demo clip and it is good! Screen that size with a brilliant image is certainly desirable.

Hold off then, that's my feeling.

Still under warranty and with 3 years to sit it out and wait makes it a no brainer my friend and as the TV has been that good why upgrade now? 4K hasn't even taken off yet and who says it actually will? At best it's going to be a few years before it becomes mainstream and you would be right in that window when your warranty is in it's last year.

You will end up paying less, have time to save up a nice budget and be able to buy into 4K at the right time...that's my plan too ;-)
