Hi one and all,

I just stuck on my 'Nashville Skyline' album by Bob Dylan and noticed it was a paltry 27 mins 13 secs long. It may be a cracking album but thats a bit brief for my liking. My shortest other album is 'Pink Moon' by Nick Cave which tinkles along for a mere 28m 30s.

Anyone got anything shorter in their collection?

I think you mean Nick Drake not Cave?

Anyway, before the advent of CD all albums tended to be a maximum of 20 minutes per side.

Albums these days can be a bit bloated and filled out with unnecessary rubbish.

Bring back the 3 minute pop song.

Tracey Thorn - A Distant Shore - 23 minutes.

Most of the early Beatles albums are around 30 mins and that's with 14 or more tracks!

The shortest album I've got is Slayer's 1984 "epic" Reign in Blood, 10 or 11 tracks, 24 minutes and change, all killer, quite literally in some cases...

I know Napalm Death still have the shortest single with Scum, which clocked in at a mighty 7 seconds, no idea how long their albums were though.

I believe 'Hell Awaits' was Slayer's 1984 / 1985 release. I saw them in Toronto and I think I lost some hearing as a result.

How about Nilsson Sings Newman? Harry covers 10 Randy songs in just 25m 17s, to no great critical or commercial success.

I got this information off the web. No idea if it's correct.

It's more likely to be 'Human Jerky' by the goregrind band 'Cattle
Decapitation'. It comes in at 12 minutes 26 seconds. It was released in
1999 and has 18 tracks. 🙂

Don Jr:I believe 'Hell Awaits' was Slayer's 1984 / 1985 release.

I'm doing well, you're right it was 86 and the album is actually 29 minutes long, apparently, bum. I was sure my old CD player used to say 24m, hey ho...
