....after listening to XTC - English Settlement (remastered version) and then the new Drive By Truckers album (The Big To Do) which is my favourite album of the year so far; the Truckers sound like mud (not the tiger feet sort) compared to the XTC. This may have been done on other threads but am I alone in thinking that the record industry (and the bands coming along) will satisfy themselves in producing cheaper, inferior recordings for the mass market digital download generation because it's the economic way to go? Other dodgy examples that immediately spring to mind are Kings of Leon, Red Hot Chili Peppers....

Now, ya see, I think 'Stadium Arcadium' sounds brilliant - open, detailed, and dynamic.

Completely agree about Kings of Leon though - their last album really suffers from some dubious production values.

I think Kings of Leon suffers from a lack of any decent tunes. Dont know why they are trying to sound all epic. Must be the haircuts!
