Spending circa £125 which of these would be the better for listening to rock music. If niether what is suggested instead.

I had the Philips M1 - very, very dull. Hated it. I had the Amperior which is/was the successor to the HD-25 series, although those things change a lot. Anyway, the HD-25 series gets great reviews, and deserves those reviews - very lively sound.

You could also consider the Beyerdynamic DT-770. Best headphones I've owned for outright sound quality.

I wish there were a thumbs-up or 'agree' button. Yeah, the DT-770 pro.

I tried SH's HD25's MkII and found them very involving. Punchy and fast.

The one thing that prevented me from buying them was the vice-like clamping force. Extremely uncomfortable.

This may or may not be different for you.

Grado should be perfect for Rock (and other genres) too. Try if you can but if the HD25 fit you I think you probably would be very pleased.
