So I have seen an MF A3.2 CD Player advertised on a well know auction website.....and thought to myself maybe that might be a nice player to add to my Marantz Amp and Castle Speakers....good price so why not.

So I have read that whilst these were very very good players.....some of them had a tendency to produce a grinding noise whilst playing CD's after a while......So seeing as there was a mobile number thought I would call and get some further information.

Now this guy is a store although operating from home and is supposed to specialise in Mid to High end 2nd hand hi-fi equipment.....Yet he knows nothing about the machine at all......doesnt know how old it is...doesnt know if it has valves (like the A5).....he couldnt even explain what sort of sound the player produced (although apparantly has had it running and playing CD's)......didnt even know if they were prone to problems or not.......

Hmmmm well lets just say I put the phone down and wouldnt touch him with a barge pole....maybe I'm being to harsh on him...but surely if your selling your equipment you should know or find out a bit about it.

So, not much different from Currys/Comet/Dixons, etc, then?

They pretend to have had the item from new and yet know nothing about it.

I made an enquiry for a Pioneer A400 asking if he knew how old it was. Claimed he'd had it from new and was 6-months old!!!

Would really like an A65+ if buying used. One guy claimed his was 6-years old and in perfect working order, and yet he told me it hadn't been used in 2-years so how does he know? Another one said he couldn't remember exactly how old it was, but it used to be...."part of a high end system, including a Marantz CD player."

I don't drive so can't view, so just gave up.

I think it just shows that before buying anything second hand of this well known site it pays to ask questions and if your not happy with the replies then walk away.......I am bidding on an Arcam CD Player at the moment and this guy is totally different...he knows whats he's talking about and the full history of the product, having had it from new and as part of his Arcam system......and he's closer as well so I can collect and actually see the product before handing over my Moolah 🙂

Well only 13 hours to go....so fingers crossed 🙂
