Second hand speakers, is it worth the risk?

I have seen a set of Mordaunt Short Avant 900 speakers on ebay (2x 904i, 2x 902i, 905c). I am thinking of getting a home cinema system but would like to keep the cost down. Are these good speakers, what kind of price where they new, what would be a good price for them now and is it worth the risk of buying second hand? Does anyone know of any reputable second hand dealers?

Any advice greatly received.

Can you go & demo them? they are not bad speakers, i'd certainly check them out first before bidding if you can though.

If I won the auction I could hear them working before I bought, but not before.
