I am not really searching for anything, but like to look around for good stuff for a reasonable price once in a while.
I came across a set of Tannoy loudspeakers. Great vintage stuff. But, doing a bit of searching around I came across the fact that these have tweeters supported by ferro fluid.
Given ferro fluid dries out between 10-15 years, meaning the tweeters are not able to move freely anymore, they should be either sounding dull and / or being near to death.
Just being curious
- is there any reasonable priced fix?
- is there any sense at all buying old “ferro fluid” loudspeakers. Or should we just leave them alone?
