screen noise, what could be the cause?

Evening all

My panasonic seems to be suffering from some noise issues. Seems particularly noticeable when watching simpsons. After a large amount of movement on the screen all lines will get a real nasty noise surrounding them on the whole screen for a second or two and then goes. It doesn't happen constantly but is very regular and pretty nasty. Im not going mad thats for sure but just wondered if it is likely to be the broadcast or my gear?

Doesnt sound good at all!

Have you got it set properly? (set brightness and contrast using a THX disc or similar and switched off all the useless 'processing' modes such as DNR and CONTRAST ENHANCE etc)

the only thing i have not done is tghe colour thing on the thx dvd. Its set up ok i think. It only seems to be bad / noticeable with the simpsons / animation off air. hmmmmm.
