I've been watching blu rays on my 720p tv now for some time and I've got uesd to the black lines top and bottom of my screen. due to being told by some one at a local store telling me thats how the director of the movie intend we see it and that the wide screen tv as we know it is that size to accommodate 16:9 and 4:3 so when you choose hd or dvd upscale you get those black lines, on my tv its called full screen (through hdmi I cant even change the aspect ratio if I tryed, its stuck on full screen) which is fine I've lerned to watch films like this.but now it's time to change my tv and I like the look of the philips 42pfl9732d of the aurea but will the black lines take the affect away from the amilight system and of course have these tv's been review if so how did they get on.

To be blunt I think these screens are a fad and a tacky one at that. I've tried backlighting my tv a couple of ways and it doesn't look right when watching a film. Maybe when the tv is off for a flashy effect but not on. AND what do Philips think they are playing at with the latest screens where the whole frame surround changes colour. Cheap and nasty looking. Maybe fine for a boutique but NOT IN MY HOUSE!
