Hi,

So a couple of days ago i posted a thread about a pioneer lx50 av reciever, well i got it and its amazing! but as kids do to my horror! he has somehow scratched my volume and multi jog knob while i was out at work today. I dont know what the missus was playing at but it looks like hes been scribing circles with a screwdriver or a "brum brum" (toy diecast metal car)

hes 2 years and 4 months and amazing, but loves to play with daddies things.

basically you cant see these scratches in normal light, but if i go upclose and look you realy can see them, they are grey circular scratches over the nice black dials etc.

Is there any kind of poloshing technique i can use to MASK? or lift the scratches or do i just live with them?

the reciever is working a treat and sounds amazing so none of that is affected, i just want it to look perfect lol. Only lasted a day before hes put his mark on it,

any help will be much appreciated!

thanks a bunch

If you can find it try some perspex polish - local flying club is a good place to ask. This polish is used for getting canopies and aircraft screens clean.

Failing that try something like autoglym paint restoring creme or scratch remover. or try a bit of their ultimate shine polish - this is formulated with a polymer that masks the swirl marks thet you sometimes see on car paintwork.

Warning - it will take you a long time to polish the scratches out whatever you use.

Last resort, if nobs are metal, but practice first. Remove and take to a paint shop for colur maching, get a can mixed and repaint. My dad restoring a valve amp took it to a spray shop and for a few quid they sprayed the facia, so if the previous advice does not work(which it should), try this.
