Savvy shopper thread (concept)

I've asked this before, whether a 'sticky' thread could be added to the 'Hi-Fi' section. So many newbies ask similar questions or have concerns about system matching.

A few years ago What Hi-fi had a number of videos, such as this one, featuring Mr. Clough. Or this one.

This could be good in reassuring posters entering hi-fi arena for the first time or revisiting this hobby/interest.

Ideally, the 'sticky' could could be written by one or more learned folk on here.

And yes, I'd also like a dedicated 'Active' section which would alleviate (hopefully) many of the 'Them and Us' scenarios.

Sensible suggestions would be appreciated.

Or maybe an FAQs section? I'm sure there used to be something like this, or a glossary of common terms, on here.

Sounds good to me, spiny.

I seem to remember they had a FAQ and a Savvy Shopper section in their mag, can't remember one on the forum though.

I agree, pp, we need a Wiki section to build into the Advice tab on the main menu.

"Advice" contains some good stuff, but the core info on setting up turntables and how to create a home network are lost amongst the advertorial stuff about, eg. the 2016 Philips TV models!!
