Samsung ue55f8500.Is this the best tv for the money?

Been down to richer sounds and auditioned the samsung and i was very impressed and now the price is under £1900 seems an absolute steal but can i do better for the money.have already seen the panasonic dt65 and was also impressed but i think the samsung edges it.Any ideas.Oh! and large living room and no direct sunlight

Yes the 8000 and 8500 are virtually identical in all but stand but the stand on the 8000 would be a problem as i would need a new stand for the lounge and her that shall be obeyed wont go that far(she picked the one i have now,a nice walnut job by the way)but I was looking to see any alternatives,

my friend has the 40inch version of this sony and when i played about with it i found the smart functions extremly slow.not that i place much emphisis on that but hey if you have it??
