After my beloved Sony SXRD set bit the dust I am now back in the market for a new display. I'm not that bothered about 3D but these two sets do get a good rating. I was wondering if anyone had any views which is better, or any suggestions for sets I should look at within a similar price range

I must be honest, I did not see a huge difference in picture quality between the 7000 and the 6900, the real difference is the black filter, which is a help if you have a window nearby or want to watch during the day a lot, so not an additional expense I thought was worthy of £200ish.

I looked at the PX990 but at the time it was also £200 more than the 6900, I preferred the finish of the samsung, but the LG had slightly better Black levels.

It's a though one, the 6900 got 3D TV of the year, but if I was you I would try to audition both and see which you prefer. I love me 6900 by the way.

I looked at both and could not see much between them so went for the LG as it was £1100 from RIcher Sounds with a 5 year warranty.

Not bothered about 3D either but if I change my mind it is there.

Do not think you would be diappointed with either of them to be honest they are both very good screens.

As mentioned above, the only difference is the black filter, which should give slightly better black levels, but more importantly reduce reflections on the screen in bright rooms. Samsung only brought the 6900 out to meet the demand for 7000, when they could not get hold of the filter from their suppliers, I believe.

As a side note any ideas when the new 2011 models are out? I've noticed in another thread you've stated they will come out end of March/beginning April. Anymore info as I dont want to payout £1500 for a display, only for it to be superceeded shortly after
