From Stuff, another Lord Heseltine magazine.

Category: Winner as follows:

Design And Build; Apple

Screen: Samsung

Camers: Samsung

Performance; Draw

Features: Samsung

Battery: Samsung

UI; Apple

Overall winner: Samsung.

Summary: A bigger, clearer, brighter screen; longer battery life; a larger crop of features that you won't find on any other handset – the S5 has many advantages over Apple's flagship, and thus we're happy to say it's overall the better of the two phones.

So the question remains, how did WhatApple only give the Samsung 4 stars when even their own sister publication was prepared to tell the truth?

Why do you assume one subjective reviewer is the truth and one is not?

Edit: don't think I have time for this one today, toodlepip :)

Because every review except one says it is the Dogs danglers. I picked the Stuff one as they are sister magazines.

I see you don't have a counter argument and want to run away. Matbe when you grow up a bit you will find time.

But video is well ahead according to other reviews. In fact, the pictures and screen are the best on the market (until the oppo Find 7 comes out).

Whilst reviews are just subjective opinion, and I'd always want to read a few and take what I infrred from all of them to get a balanced view, did you actually read it or did you just look at the pretty stars?

I had no counter argument as I had no interest in talking about phones, I just thought your statement was odd. Enjoy your S5.

I use both FaceTime & Google Hangout regularly. FaceTime video & audio is far better in my experience, while Hangout often suffers with poor video & audio, and often the video cuts off.

Why do you use HO, if FT is better?

Is it because you have friends/family/acquaintances without Apple devices. That is why FT is shite, and always will be, compared to cross platform services.

Well, my in-laws are all Android, as my sister in law works for Google, and my brother in law is an ex-Googler and official Google tester. So obviously they're anti-Apple. My side of the family have Android phones and iPad mini. I coaxed them to try hangout, but it was impossible to chat at all, as they're network isn't as fast as UK. FaceTime works beautifully even with slow internet speed.

I'm not so sure Samsung will have the cake and eat it. There is another competitor on the Android market that could potentially be a thorn in both Samsung and Apple's butt ! Sony Xperia Z2 and the Z3 coming out in the Autumn ... When I finished with my Blackberry contract the phone that stood out for me is the Xperia Z2.

There is NO perfect mobile out there but of the three phones, Xperia z2, Galaxy S5, iPhone 5S it is very close. If the Xperia Z2 was running iOS it would kill off Samsung. So I think the competition is now a three way battle.

Don't forget HTC One M8, arguably the most gorgeous phone on sale.

The HTC seems to be the winner on a few sites these days. If you want a sealed unit with a shiny metal case, it's the winner. If you want an expandable with a replaceable cover then go for the Galaxy S5. The LG G2 and Sony Xperia Z2 are the other top dogs with the Nexus 5 being the best value for money bargain buy. For those who don't use 4G then the Oppo Find 7 is the winner. It's all horses for courses.

There's a new kid on the block, OnePlus One:

My master plan was to win one. Entered the comp. I would then have had to buy a non-working phone off the list to smash. Not only didn't I win, but I didn't even get invited to buy one. As I said on the other post, they need to sort out their marketing department if they want to dine at the top table.

I think someone should try to integrate Android and ios. Then that would be the ultimate in a mobile operating system. The perfect combination for a smartphone. Widgets and Apps working together and fully customisable. Then there would be one complete compatible system for every manufacturer to use, the trouble with that idea is the monopoly of one system getting all the cake. Lets face it there will always be a war between manufacturers to come up with the "perfect" mobile. It also depends on what the user wants from the mobile. I wanted a smartphone with a good size screen capable of HD content but not too big for my pocket. A Phablet for me is overkill, otherwise you might as well have an iPadMini with a sim card in it. For me the Sony Xperia Z2 is the right size for me.

The Apple system is to be totally incompatible with anything else. Instead of Bluetooth, they have to go airplay; instead of FLAC, they have to go ALAC etc. They won't pay anybody for royalties, they just pinch ideas, call them something else and make themselves uncompatible. Look at the maps fiasco when they tried to pinch Goggle's perfect solution.

ipad mini with a SIM card? Sounds like a good idea to me.
