I use my Sony S350 BDP as my source to listen to my CD's. It use to work perfectly well. Even with HDMI cable connected in between TV and BDP, the player would recognise the music CD and sound would come out of the speakers.

I did some f/w upgrades last week.

Then starting yesterday, the player decided that it wanted the TV on and that sound would only come out of the TV speakers.

I've not changed anything in the BDP settings.

This is really frustrating me as I spend loads time at home atm looking for a job and I can't stand the silence no more!!... Grrr Grrr

Any ideas what gone wrong and how to remedy to this situation? Tnx.

(I want my music back!!!)

You have probably thought of this but if you took the digital feed from your BD player out and replaced it again, did you put in the same input on your DM? You might want to check that it went in the input and not the output of the DM and then make sure that you have the right source clicked on the DM? I can't think of anything else.

The DM is not in use. I was using a "direct" connection from BDP to amp. It used to work fine... Worked great too with the DM in the middle.

I have again tried with the DM, without the DM, with HMDI connected and disconnected. If the HDMI is connected the music comes out via the TV. If disconnected no sound at all.

I'll go back to the player and will post my audio settings for the BDP.

Momo, I don't understand properly. Why are you using it direct, when you have the DM? Surely the DM will be great for both music and films and tv come to think of it. Your settings should let you say that you want the audio to come from the digital connection (coaxial or optical), turn the hdmi audio off.

I'm not often using the DM (*hangs head in shame*) for CDs as I find it's not improving the sound THAT much tbh. [now you've made me feel guilty. LOL]

Alright, I'll give it a go with those settings. Cheers Gerrardasnails.

I now have set the audio up as follows:

- Priority Audio Output = Coaxial/Digital (used to be Stereo Analogue, and was working alright though)

- Audio (HDMI) = PCM 2 channels (I don't have the "off" option, only "Auto" or "PCM")

laserman16:Sony do say on their website that "After installing the update you will need to reconfigure your player."

Might be worth checking.

Something I'll remember.

It's all working again now. Thanks again for your help Gerrardasnails!

(Oh, and the DM really makes a very audible difference now. Obviously seems like the BDP wasn't setup correctly in the first place. I feel like I owe a

just for that one...)
