Replacing an old Receiver

I have been taken by surprise at having to replace my old Sony QS home cinema receiver, I was wondering what I should be looking at to replace it? I would like something silver, around 600 pounds and maybe Sony to match other kit, although, I may have to live with it if its better than Sony's equivalent. Good with music and movies, HDMI, HD audio codecs is all I would need.
