I have a P3 that is about 25 years old and the output sound is unbalanced. I have tried the phono amp & leads, so am sure it is the deck/cartridge. Is it time to buy a new cartridge?

that could also be the wires corroding but if they look fine and youve checked that theyre fitting ok to the cartridge then it could well be the cartridge

also check alignment and tracking if you havent done so already

what cartridge is it out of curiosity

After 25 years it is definitely time for a full service from Rega. This can be arranged with your Rega dealer.

thats the first cartridge i ever had

retired mine 8 years ago so think yours has maybe reached the end

by the way a service is a good idea too as chebby says theres lots of info how to do it if you google and want to do it yourself
