Hi All,
I currently listen to music via youtube/iphone and bluetooth headphones.

I have a couple of queries on this, is it possible to improve this using a receiver/amplifier , if so, can anyone recommend a unit that I can connect my iphone and headphones via bluetooth to.

My budget is circa £500.

Cheers
Peter

Hi Peter, welcome to this forum.
Ultimate quality would not include Bluetooth.
(Even though it's convenient and doesn' t sound terrible).
However, you can stay with BT and still improve on what you've got.
It would be helpful to the recommenders if you could say what headphones you've got.
And whether you're currently without any amp / speakers.
Would you like to stick to headphones (not bothering with speakers)?
Do you want to rule out wired connection?
Would you be OK with a desktop setup (i.e. not too portable)?

Hi Gray,
Thank you and thanks for your reply.

Apologies, title and information was vague to say the least.

I do have a complete separates setup albeit boxed and out of the way due to life changes. i.e. family. I can find room for an amp/receiver but not much else.

I understand wireless connections are not the best but that's where I am at the moment.

I currently have Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones.

Hello PB,

First of all. I think YouTube will be the limiting factor for the sound quality, as I have found and I am sure that you have. That the sound quality varies considerably.

I see that you are using an Iphone with a Sony WH-1000XM4 headphone.

I have the WH-900 version and like yours, it comes with a headphone cable.

I have a Samsung S8 and use it with an external Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC)
The Cyrus Soundkey: See below

The Cyrus soundKey USB DAC transforms your mobile music (cyrusaudio.com)

It connects to my headphones via the headphone cable.
A fairly cheap option which should improve your sound quality with whatever you are listening to. Whether it is YouTube or Spotify, Tidal etc....

Of course, there are other DACs that can be used with a mobile.

ifi hipdac hip-dac by iFi audio - A small but powerful DAC/headphone amplifier (ifi-audio.com)

Chord Mojo2 Mojo 2 - Chord Electronics Ltd

All three are within your budget :)

Find yourself a "cheap" OG mojo (chord DAC) that no one wants now the latest and greatest has come along (there loss you gain) and pair it with some Focal Listen Pro cans, sign up for a subscription of apple music (or other) sit back and enjoy. No need for youtube music then. Which quite honestly is your biggest factor here.

Or if the budget doesn't allow for the chord get a dragonfly black instead.

Failing any of the above another option would be the apple pro max headphones.

Welcome to the forums! We have a ton of really dedicated folks with lots of knowledge, so you've definitely come to the right place. Creating posts with titles/headlines that are specific to the topic is very helpful, but we all learn as we go, so don't stress over it.
