Hi

Which rear speakers would be best for the following system the Tannoy F1 or the F4

Yamaha AV Receiver

Tannoy F4 Fronts

Tannoy FC Centre

Mordaunt Short 309 sub

Thank you

I'd use a pair of F1s - 70% of the soundtrack comes from the centre speaker, so big rears are a bit of a waste IMO, certainly at this level.

Though admittedly the F4s are only 150 quid at Richer Sounds just now...

I'd go for another pair of F4's, if you have the space, as it'd ensure a tonal match around the room.

Slight overkill possibly, but at current pricing it's almost rude not to

I had a long, rambling discussion about this subject on another forum. The chap I discussed it with was fairly knowledgeable about this kinda stuff, and I took his advice in good faith as he wasn't trying to sell me anything!

His point was that a note (or other sound) should sound the same whether played through the front or rear channels, and the only real way to be sure of that is to use identical speakers. Makes sense I s'pose!

Hope you enjoy them

It overkill and the F1's would be sufficient, but look at it this way, it's cheaper getting the F4's than having to buy decent stands for the F1's
