I have just bought a new Samsung 40" LCD but I am really disappointed by the picture quality while watching Sky + for eg football motion blur round players and on other channels it's not really crystal clear, I have read loads on how to improve it by changing the signal to RGB which I have done, and changing the setting on the tv and I have a cambridge audio scart lead but the quality is not great even when watching freeview. I am thinking of getting either a 5m QED or IXOS scart to see if it can improve, has anyone got any idea's on how I can improve the quality. Many Thanks

First of all, keep the Scart as short as possible. The signal will degrade over longer distances, no matter what the brand. Unfortunately, poor SD quality is a common thing with HD LCD screens, especially a lot of Full HD ones. The reason is that they usually have pretty poor built-in scalers to keep the prices down. Companies promote screen based on their HD performance and resolution specs rather than their ability to deal with lower quality signals. The only real way to improve the signal is to go through a good quality external scaler which can then feed the TV with a decent quality upscaled signal.

What size Dish have you got...............if it's the crappy usual SKY one you get when your SKY system was installed try changing it for at least a 60cm one like a channel master and and a good quality LNB and then see the difference in picture quality that this higher 'signal' gain dish will deliver

You've got a good TV but you also need to use a good quality Dish

Interesting reading. I had to have a Sky engineer come out today as My Sky+ was playing up -- the signal to the 2nd tuner had just died! Turned out it was a faulty LNB! Guy said that they (Sky) Have had so many people phoning up with the same fault. This nay be something I have to look into....
