I understand the setup of the sonos but i am trying to save some pennies,

My router etc is in the office so i dont really need a music system in there, i have just put a booster (with ethernet outlet)in my front room near my av amp etc.

My qu is can i start with zp90 wired from this and wired to av amp for start of my sonos set up, then i dont need to buy add ons until other rooms are ready,

Or is it the main router the only start point

not too sure what you mean by "booster", but if your ethernet outlet is connected back to your router, which in turn, is connected to whatever your media is stored on (be it a pc or NAS) then yes, a zp80 or zp90 would be fine to start you off.

that is the fully supported route.

there are users who dont bother doing this and connect using wifi (even the first zone) and all is well -- just remember though - this is unsupported.

Hi iamthetimerman

I have my computer, router, nas,( with my itunes on it) in my office at the bottom of my garden. in my house i have a homeplug, with a ZP90 pluged in and it works perfectly, Sending internet radio and streaming my itunes library wirelessly throughout my house.

I hope this is a help with the set-up. I got some of my sonos of ebay.

Yeah it's fine, the homeplug is basically the same as a direct cable connection to the router, friend of mine does this, no problems at all.

My booster is an Edimax wireless access point,

So there is no cable from router

Hmm, well as far as the ZP is concerned it'll be cabled to the access point (the fact that it's a wireless access point isn't really relevant), it won't know that subsequently the transmission is wireless. You'll just have to try it and see what happens.

I thought you said you had homeplugs?
