I am interested in the 685 theatre system. However, the 686s for the rear channels are too deep to be wall mounted as my sofa almost touches the rear wall and they would literally be above my head and would also look awkward mounted on the side wall. I am therefore considering swapping the 686s for the DS3s on the side walls. If I go for this option, will I lose any sound integration between the front and rear speakers as the 686s are probably better matched to the 685s and the HTM62? In addition would the DS3s be too much for my room? My room is 15ft X 12ft.

Thanks

Have a listen first to be sure, but I think that'll work fine. Alternatively, you could look and see if you can fit the M1s in as rears - this is how I have my setup i.e. 685 fronts, HTM62 centre and M1 rears.

I'd go with Prof Hat.

If you're forced to compromise anywhere in a surround system, the rear speakers are the area where 'downscaling' will have the least negative impact on your overall sound.
